Greer Steel Taps Mittal As Top Supplier

Dover, OH—When toasting the best of the best in the steel industry there are few locations that compare to the richly paneled halls of the venerable Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Such was the appropriate setting on Wednesday, April 18th when, during a special dinner presentation, Greer Steel honored Mittal Steel USA as its 2006 Supplier of the Year.

Mittal’s Riverdale and Cleveland facilities were selected for their performance in providing Greer with material and service of the highest level.

"Our Supplier of the Year Award is given to the cream of the crop, and Mittal certainly fits that role based on their impressive performance throughout the year,” said Greer CEO and President, John Raese as he presented the award at the evening’s ceremony.  “Mittal Steel was recognized as our Supplier of the Year because they went above and beyond our expectations and consistently helped us meet our competitive challenges while providing us with outstanding value.”

Greer’s Chief Operations/Quality Officer Todd Daenzer, also lauded Mittal’s efforts.  “The material and service that Mittal provides significantly enhances our ability to produce the industry’s best finish and tolerances”, stated Daenzer.

The decision on who earns the Supplier of the Year award falls to a cross-functional team of Greer personnel representing purchasing, quality assurance and manufacturing. The team evaluates award candidates on the basis of performance in areas such as quality, responsiveness, technology and value.

In responding to the recognition, Mittal Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Daniel Mull stated, "We work hard everyday to meet the critical requirements of each one of our customers and we are pleased to be able to consistently meet Greer’s needs.  We appreciate the recognition from Greer and are extremely proud to accept this award.”
